Today, Myla got a brief break from the pumping machinery as her central line was disconnected from the Alaris machine for several hours. As of about 2:30 this morning, her first of the five rounds of chemo is officially in the books. The next few days will show how her body has responded to the treatment. Melissa thinks that Myla actually looks a bit better than she did yesterday. Plus, she is not yet on pain medication to deal with the side effects of the chemo treatments.
During our goodbye last night, Melissa shared that she was done with this place, wanted to go home, and never wanted to come back. I hadn't voiced this, but I'm pretty sure I share her thoughts. Each night we have the same ritual--she leaves Myla in the hospital room with Mrs. Byrom and walks with us to the glass elevators. After saying goodbye, Raul Matthew and I wave up to her as we descend, and then we wave again once we get to the bottom.
A special thanks to Bob Sanders of the Indianapolis Colts for tickets to today's 13-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs (or "Chefs," as I like to call them..."Great googly moogly!"). Here are some pictures of us eating pizza at the RCA Dome before the game, and Raul Matthew on the field before the game.
