Great news--Myla's ANC is now up to 585! This is up from the low-200 range earlier in the week, so her system is recovering well.
Terri, a home nurse for Clarion Health paid us a visit on Monday. While she was here, Melissa changed the dressing for Myla's central line. If you faint at the sight of perspiration, then you might skip the following pictures. They aren't gory, but they are more medical than the previous pictures I've posted.
If you are still wondering whether you should have a look, I'll help you out. I'll give you a image, and you can decide for yourself whether to continue. Here it is: A sample picture of all the medical supplies used to change Myla's dressing.
If you are feeling queasy after seeing that, then just click here. If not, feel free to continue with the pictures.
It all began with Terri taking Myla's pulse and head measurement. Myla was then moved to the operating table (a.k.a., our kitchen table) where Melissa removed the outer dressing over Myla's chest. Myla waited patiently as Melissa used adhesive remover to slowly peel back this clear protective barrier. You can see the red and blue ends on Myla's central line--the tube used to draw blood and give morphine, antibiotics, chemo, etc. After the second layer was removed, you can see more clearly how the central line enters her chest. As Myla's happy camper permit expired, Melissa donned latex gloves and then cleaned the area using a sterile swab. The first and second layers of dressing were reapplied, and when all was finished, Myla was back to her normal self.
And they all lived happily ever after.
The End.

Raul- Myla is so beautiful even when she's crying. I know what she is going through when Melissa pulls that tape off (I've had 2 central lines)! GO MYLA!!!!
Be strong and you and your family are in my prayers!
