100th Entry

And it feels like it. Sorry for not updating this in a few days. Things have been relatively slow, and I've found myself completely unmotivated to update this thing, but I know many of you are checking this daily, so I'll continue to offer appreciative updates. I think I'm finding myself just done with this experience, so I haven't found much novel to write about lately. It's basically been one heaping after the next of the same ol' stuff. But, that's not all bad. As the doctors say around here, "Boring is good."

Myla's chemo infusions for this 4th round ended on Monday morning. She had only 7 days of chemo this time around, and so she now finds herself waiting for the chemo to take her immune system down to zero before it takes a couple of weeks to rebuild. Unfortunately, her side effects are running ahead of schedule and she has been experiencing mucositis since we've been here. This basically means painful mouth sores and lots of mucus running the entire way from mouth to, well, you know. Last night, she was teetering on spiking a fever, but thankfully didn't cross that line. We'll be keeping a constant watch on this for the next several days.

Some pictures from the last few days:

  1. Myla with a nurse.
  2. A cafeteria worker here at Riley who wanted me to take her picture. I replaced the boring wall with a different background information. Yes, I too was bored.
  3. It's finally beginning to feel warm enough to take pictures outside, so I took Raul Matthew downtown Indianapolis. If you are bored, then you can check out some of the recent pictures at http://flickr.com/photos/bluefork/
  4. And speaking of blue, here's a shot of the blue chemo that Myla got during 4 days of this visit. I came to the hospital at 4 AM to get this shot. :)

That's all that's going on here. I plan for the next few days to be boring as well. But if life gets exciting, I'll be sure to offer new updates. Thanks again for all your prayers. And a special thanks to Sarah Willis of Bible Baptist Church for the two blankets she made for the kids!
