Raul Matthew now has a cold, which means that he is banned from the cancer unit until he is well again. This throws a chimpanzee wrench into our plans, but we'll figure something out. We always do, 90% of the time.
Myla's ANC is now 30.
Thanks to Sharon for the tips on parking here at IUPUI. I left the parking lot for free last night, which was a welcome change. Plus, I didn't have to crash through that stick thingy that's always in my way. What's up with that anyway? I found that I can also park on surface lots designated as B & E, wherever those are.
12:55 PM update: Drs. Vik and Markel looked at Myla and said that she looks in relatively good shape, including the diaper rash, which seems to have improved a bit. No visits needed from the wound team. When Myla's ANC reaches 0--likely tomorrow or the day after, her system will remain defenseless for 2-4 weeks. When her ANC gets in the 100-200 range, she could be released from the hospital for a week or two. She'll then head back here to Riley for the second round of treatment when her ANC reaches at least 750 (preferably 1,000) and when her platelets reach 75,000 (preferably 100,000). The doctors also said that Raul Matthew could return to the hospital room within 48 hours of whenever his cold has run its course, which they defined as getting over a fever and runny nose.
Mr. Byrom is coming to pick Raul Matthew up for the day, so that will mean that I might be able to get some administrative work done for the first time since we've been down here.
I just found that I can also pick up Internet access out here in the lobby area of the hospital. :)
Melissa just reported that the medical staff seems to think that Myla is in exceptionally good shape compared to another child who also received the treatment of Mylotarg. She saw this as evidence that your prayers are working. I agree. :)
