Lo and behold, when the time was come for Raul Matthew and me to head home, we found ourselves in dire need of sustenance. In the midst of our trip, I said unto the son of man, for the son was the son of the man blogging this, "Let us turn at once into the place ruled by the King of Burgers." This seemed agreeable unto the son of man, so we proceeded straightway to the drive-thru where I said unto the speaker, "I"ll take a #1 combo meal with a Coke, and a kid's cheeseburger meal with a Sprite." I spake in a normal tongue lest an abominable thing be placed upon our burgers.
And when the fullness of time had come, we pulled forward to fulfill that which was intended by the inventor of the drive-thru, "Out of the window hath I called my burger." And so it came to pass that as we were back on the road I said unto the son of man, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, this Coke hath an aftertaste liken unto water from a well," for there was no city water supplied to this Burger King. And the morning and the evening was the 9th day of Myla's treatment.
Shortly thereafter, Tony Dungy, the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, was on his way to visit Myla in her room this afternoon to drop off a "basket of hope." Raul Matthew and I, of course, were cleaning out the cat box in Kokomo at the time of his surprise visit, but I understand there are pictures of coach Dungy with Myla, and I'll post those when I get a chance.
I also finally broke down and got a cell phone so that I'm not always on the dark side of the moon. If you want to "call the cell," then please dial (765) 210-9627 because that's the number, I think. :) I'm curious to hear what the ring tone is going to be. Get this--Melissa's ring tone is the theme song for the movie, Ghost Busters, and she doesn't even know it. I just find that funny.
At 5:11, Raul Matthew and I are still back in Kokomo. I'm doing laundry and he's stalking the cats. RM's cold seems to be doing a lot better. Maybe it was nothing much after all, and we could be back in the hospital room sooner than expected.
We didn't get to see Tony Dungy, but we DID get to see Marsha, Anna, and Joan back at IU Kokomo and Shawna at the dry cleaners. Marsha and Anna made my day by telling me that there were 9--count them, 9!--gift bags for Raul Matthew in the Humanities office! Knowing human nature, I've decided to dole these out over time, so he got the first bag today, which was from the staff and faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences at IU Kokomo. Thanks to all of you! The rest of the bags are back at my office waiting for slow times to come--mainly when I'll need to get work done. :) In the meantime, the set of 16 mouse traps he got today will keep him entertained for hours.
Here's something else cool: Kinzi, a high school student in our area, has started a facebook group for Myla! If you are on facebook, then check out "Go MyLa!!!!" under the "groups." Thanks, Kinzi!! Also, I've seen a picture of the first few cranes being made down in Florida by the Pothoven family. The idea for the cranes was from Keegan, who is Kinzi's brother. If I can get permission, I'll post these pictures. Otherwise, I'll show you the cranes when they arrive. They look great!
Our friend, Holly, also stopped in for a visit. I missed that one too. I did, however, learn of the "Miles for Myla" fundraising drive she has launched at Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo. :) Amazing. Thanks so much to both Holly and to those at BBC.
I ALSO missed seeing Barb, one of our communication majors at Indiana University Kokomo. As the Archon of the campus sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma (Iota Episol chapter), Barb dropped off a generous gift basket including gift cards to restaurants, a Transformers plane for Raul Matthew, and some cookies that Melissa said probably would be gone by the time we got back down to Indy. :) A very special thanks to Barb and the rest of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority!!! Melissa said that she missed seeing Barb because she had taken Myla to a free photo shoot there on the cancer floor. So Adam Vinatieri and I aren't the only ones missing things these days.

We love Tony Dungy! It was a sad day when he left Tampa a few years ago... I'm not surprised he came to see Myla. He's a good man and a Christian, but I'm sure you knew that already.
